community helpers continued

We continued our unit on Community helpers . We discussed how all of us are needed to help out in our classroom.  By everyone helping each other this creates a functional peaceful 'community'.

Noya helps to clean the toys

Nir  helps by giving Aaron a plate at breakfast time.

Dalia helps by putting her plate in the garbage when she's finished eating.

Michael helps by putting his plate in the garbage when he's finished eating.

Matthew helps by taking a chair to the circle time.

As part of our unit on "My Community", we asked each child to bring in 10 cents to be able to watch a concert prepared by preK and the money raised would be used to buy a new prayer book for the shule/Synagogue.

We patiently waited on line for our turn to give in our money.

Noya and Michael put their money into the money box that a pre k friend was holding.

As each of us gave in our money , we got a stamp on our hand:)

Our preK friends performed so beautifullly!

We were a great audience!

We sat so nicely and watched the show.

A Visit from MR GENA
Our school is also a part of Our Community.
When things break in our school , Mr Gena comes to fix them for us! We were so lucky that Mr Gena agreed to come and show us all his tools:)

Mr Gena showed us his hammer

Mr Gena showed us his screwdriver.

Matthew was so excited to see all the tools.

Mr Gena showed us how he nails two pieces of wood together.

Mr gena showed us a paintbrush.

We then read a book all about Daddy's tools. We had just seen all of those tools in Mr Gena's tool box!

YELLOW
We painted with yellow paint on the easel.
We also painted a big yellow school bus for our classroom.

OUR COMMUNITY and the color YELLOW

We started a unit on "Our community". In this unit, we learn all about our “Neighborhood helpers.” We learned that everyone has a special job and we all help each other. We learn to understand that each person has a responsibility to another and not only we rely on others to help us ( Dr, Fireman, Mailman,  etc..) but even us little two year olds can do our part to add to the community. This is a very important lesson for children because it plants the seeds for children to grow up with a certain level of responsibility to our community and the people around us.

We sang our community helper song:
(Tune from Barney  - I love you , you love me, we're a happy family...)
Helping hands, helping hands
We all have helping hands.
I help you and you help me
We all have helping hands.

We discussed who helps us at home when we need something. Most friends said that their Mama's and Daddy's help them.

We discussed who helps us in school when we need something. The Morah's help us out with most things. Isabelle helps us by bringng us our lunch,  and Mr Gena helps us to fix things when they break.

We learned about the Grocery store. We discussed how the Store Keeper helps us in the grocery store. When we need food or other things we need to go to a store where the shopkeeper will sell us what we need.

We took a walk to the grocery store. We looked around and saw that the grocery store sells all different foods to eat. Being that we were learning the color RED , we looked to buy RED foods in the grocery store.

We held onto the rope as we left school.

 .
We patiently waited for the traffic light to change so we could cross safely.

We walked around the store looking for RED fruits/vegetables.

We saw so many RED peppers
Chaim Tal put the RED pepper into the bag.

We took red plums, red peppers and red tomatoes to the Grocery Store owner and waited on line to pay.
The Store owner was also wearing a RED shirt:)
Daniella gave her the money and she put our RED food into a bag.

We said thank you and took our bag back to our school

On our way home we noticed all the winter trees that have no leaves on them because of the cold.

We put our RED purchases on our lunch table and more cut them for us to eat during afternoon snack.

YELLOW

We started a new color this week - Yellow. We gathered so many yellow objects from our room and brought them to circle time.

We made yellow collages

Winter continued, and circles

SCIENCE: We continued to speak about the winter and snow. We put water into hand gloves and put them into the freezer. When we took them out and felt them they were so cold. We discussed that when water gets very cold it freezes. Also outside, in the winter, it gets icy and cold and we need to be so careful when we walk that we shouldn't slip or fall.

We decorated winter gloves with all different art materials and glue.

We also reviewed circles and painted red circles with cups.
